During this Bavarian-themed Friday night, we will create soft pretzels (German: “Brezeln”) from scratch. After mastering the technique of the special twist, you’ll learn all about the secret ingredient: lye. There will be enough time to discover the history and traditions of pretzels and of course plenty to eat! Different spreads and condiments as well as coffee and tea will be provided, but no formal dinner is included in this class.
We’ll share all the delicious pretzels we made together during the class among each other to take home. How much this might be depends on the size of the group and how many we already ate during the class! Please bring a paper or cotton bag to take your share home.
The class starts at 6 pm and finishes up by 8.30 pm. Doors open 10 minutes prior to the start of the class.
All ingredients, the use of kitchen equipment, and an apron will be provided during the class. Small group sizes mean that there will be a maximum of 10 participants.
After the class, you’ll receive the recipes and a summary of the hints and tips via email.
Course Fee: 50 NZD per person
Please note that all types of bread made during the course contain gluten (from wheat, rye and spelt). Other ingredients may contain traces of tree nuts and sesame seeds. Please inform us about any dietary requirements during the enrolement process.
